Regatta Center Medemblik is hosting the Medemblik. The foundation for the Center was laid in 1998 and it was officially opened in 1999. The Center is very successful and highly praised by its users.
The Dutch main venue for international racing
Medemblik has always been the center of regatta sailing in the Netherlands. It is the home port and main venue to many international events such as multiple European or World Championships in various classes, but also to events for yachts such as the 24 Hour Regatta.
The sheltered harbour, the picturesque and inviting city center as well as the world class Regatta Committees have all contributed to Medembliks success as harbour town!
Medemblik is the smallest, prettiest and oldest city of West-Friesland along the former Zuiderzee (IJsselmeer), approximately 40 kilometres north of Amsterdam. It received town privileges in 1289. Nowadays, the city counts about 7.600 inhabitants. Due to its rich history, Medemblik is an interesting place to visit. The picturesque centre reminds you of the old days. In addition there are many tourist attractions, such as harbours, castle Radboud, a typical Dutch flourmill “de Herder” and many museums and establishments.
The Medemblik Regatta also works close together with “Recreatieschap West Friesland”, for more info: www.recreatieschapwestfriesland.nl.
