MEDEMBLIK, 28th May – With 700 boats on the water, five courses to follow, races starting in de morning and finishing in the evening it means a hell of a job for the Mediateam. More then 30.000 people follow the Delta Lloyd Regatta on social media and the website.
The biggest sailing event of the Netherlands is important for sponsor Delta Lloyd. It means good pr, in the Netherlands and abroad. The coverage of the event is an important instrument in their pr- and marketing strategy.
Tweets from the water
Five students are following the races on the water and send tweets about what’s happening in all classes during the races, two guys are responsible for the tweets ashore. ,,A big group who works hard’’, social media-expert Hester Ozinga explaines.
Nena Hooghiemstra is working on the course with the Nacra17 and Finn. ,,We try to keep people up to date. That means a lot of work. Positions keep changing and the final result is important.’’ ,,It’s the best way to communicate from the water’’, teamleader Media Jelle Hofman explains.
Hundreds of photo’s a day published
The mediateam works with two photographers. Sander van der Borch is one of them and already working for years in the sailingworld. ,,We make hundreds of photo’s every day, about 350 are published daily’’, he says. He and his colleague Laurens Morel send their pictures from the water, so the social media-canals and the website of the regatta has live-coverage from them both.
Three video-specialists taking care of all kinds of items: background-items, interviews with sponsors, guests, sailors ashore and videos from the battle on the water. On the website and Facebook are every day around ten video-items to watch.
Text at the Delta Lloyd Regatta is made by two journalist, one from Holland and one from the UK. They’re responsible for background stories, interviews and the press releases.
