MEDEMBLIK – Her biggest moment took place last year in Rio de Janeiro. After years of heavy training, Marit Bouwmeester became Olympic champion in the Laser Radial. Her preparation to this season has not been as good as normal. She’s working hard to get in good shape at the Delta Lloyd Regatta.

Three days of racing at the IJsselmeer leaves Bouwmeester in ninth place overall.“I had some physical problems when I started the season at the end April in Hyères – I couldn’t finish that event. The first day at Medemblik was good, the second day not so good. I’m trying to find my rhythm here.”

Bouwmeester has set her goal on the Worlds at the end of August, mentioning: “After Hyères there are only two events left to train for: the Delta Lloyd Regatta and the World Cup Final in Santander. I still have a lot of work to do and I’m getting better every day.”
