First Dutch glory to Dorian van Rijsselberghe

By | All news, RS-X Men

First Dutch glory went to Dorian van Rijsselberghe (NED), who ended the week as he began it – by winning the race. With five wins in the 39 boat fleet he has dominated all week, never outside the top 10 and only twice outside the top four, and ending up with a points margin of 41. A fifth in the medal race for Paul Rozier (FRA) was enough to retain the silver and a third for Aichen Wang (CHN) left him with the bronze. So no change to the top three after the medal race. Van Rijsselberghe said, “I am…

Aaron McIntosh: a second gold in a row is almost impossible

By | All news, RS-X Men

They have already been working together for eight years. Their biggest success: Olympic gold at the Games in London. Windsurfer Dorian van Rijsselberghe and his coach Aaron McIntosh are seeking a second gold medal at the Olympics in Rio. “Twice on a row? It’s never done before in windsurfing. It’s almost impossible,” McIntosh says at the Delta Lloyd Regatta, 70 days before the start of the Olympics. Asked how van Rijsselberghe has developed over the past four years, he said, “He is a completely different animal, more mature, a lot more consistent. We are continuing to grow as a team…

By | All news, Laser Radial, RS-X Men

Bouwmeester…

Van Rijsselberghe werkt aan wedstrijdritme

By | RS-X Men

Pawel beats Kiran in tight fight for RS-X gold

By | News, RS-X Men

Pawel Tarnowski has won the men’s RS-X windsurfer gold medal for Poland, by a single point from the Netherlands’ Kiran Badloe. The 10 finallists were flying around the short course at speeds in excess of 20 knots, and in the early stages Badloe’s lead in the Medal Race looked good enough for overall victory. There was plenty of place changing throughout the race, and at times Tarnowski was back in silver medal position, even on the final run to the finish. But the flying Pole pulled back a place just when he needed to, 4th place in the Medal Race…

Will the Polish domination in the RS:X end soon?

By | RS-X Men
During the Delta Lloyd Regatta 2014 the RS:X classes for both men and women a Polish sweep. Pawel Tarnowski and Zofia Klepacka ended up first in Medemblik last year. This were striking results and showed an unusual display in the world of sailing. Will this dominance be broken this year by Dorian van Rijselberghe(NED), Louis Giard (FRA) or maybe Lilian de Geus (NED)? From 24th until the 30th of May the Delta Lloyd Regatta takes place in Medemblik.  We’re wondering if the Polish sailors can defend their titles at another edition. For all sailors it’s a good opportunity to get...
