MEDEMBLIK, 28th MAY – Nina Keijzer and Claire Blom have taken one step to the Olympics in Rio, next year. Before they finally can go the two sailors in de 49erFX have still a lof of work to do. They need some good results in the World Cup or the World Championship later on this year and also money to support their Olympic campaign. ,,It’s still a long way to go’’, Nina Keijzer tells at the Delta Lloyd Regatta.

Keijzer is without her partner Blom in Medemblik. Claire Blom got injured on Palma after a fight with the mast. The couple went to Hyère and after that Blom still got problems with her knee. She underwent surgery and is still recovering from that. Coach Francisco Rebelo de Andrade took her place. ,,It is very special to sail here with Nina’’, the Portugese tells.

Keijzer and Andrade are second, just behind the Dutch couple Annemiek Bekkering en Annette Duetz. And that’s special too. Keijzer en Blom won the Dutch trial for an Olympic ticket. They beat Bekkering and Duetz en now both teams don’t want to be a part of the Dutch national sailing squad anymore.

,,Around the World Cup in Palma we got a sponsor in Magic Marine and the company was willing to continue after that. But it is still not enough for the whole olympic campaign’’, Nina Keijzer explains. ,,In two weeks we are starting a crowdfunding project to raise money.’’
