The program for 2018
The Medemblik Regatta takes place from Tuesday 22nd to Saturday 26th of May 2018. But there’s a lot more happening around those days. So when do you have to be where?
Registration for the sailors opens on Sunday the 21st and continues on Monday. Monday morning is also the open training with the Dutch sailors for the press. From 14.00 hour there is a press conference about the Medemblik Regatta, the Dutch sailors and their head coach will speak.
From Tuesday till Friday the racing starts with the qualification series. On Tuesday first start is at 10.30 hour. The rest of the week the sailors start at 10.00 hour. A total of 8 to 12 races will be sailed in the qualifiers, the top 10 from each class goes onto the Medal Race on Saturday.
Theatre style Medal Races
The Medal Race starts on Saturday at 10.00 hour. These finals will be sailed in physical boundaries on each side of the course. This makes the competition for the sailors even more exciting with very close racing. For supporters and media it’s attractive and easy to watch. You can easily follow the Medal Races on Saturday from the dike next to the Regatta Center.
When the sailors are out racing, supporters have a chance to go and visit the city of Medemblik. During the Regatta their is the Optimist on Tour in the marina in the city. This is the place were children learn to sail in an Optimist, canoe, SUP or windsurf!
On Saturday there’s also Medemblik Nautiek, an annual event with lots of activities for everyone!
